Role Overview & Business Impact

As a Senior AI Engineer – Microsoft Power Platform, you will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade AI experiences embedded directly into Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Copilot Studio. You will accelerate business outcomes by integrating Azure AI and OpenAI capabilities into workflow automation, decision support, customer/member/patient experiences, and operational intelligence—while ensuring solutions meet strict security, compliance, governance, and scalability requirements.

You will partner closely with product, architecture, security, and business stakeholders to move AI from experimentation to production-ready, governed, and measurable solutions. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can both build and influence, shaping reusable patterns, platform standards, and best practices that enable safe AI adoption at scale.

Key Responsibilities

AI Integration & Solution Engineering

Design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse) with Azure AI services and Azure OpenAI/OpenAI APIs

Implement advanced AI patterns including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), summarization, classification, entity extraction, conversational copilots, and document intelligence

Develop reusable components such as connectors, APIs, templates, shared prompt libraries, and solution accelerators to enable consistent enterprise adoption

Automation & Intelligent Workflows

Build and optimize intelligent workflows using Power Automate, including approvals, exception handling, and human-in-the-loop processing

Integrate enterprise systems via standard and custom connectors, API Management, and secure REST APIs

Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for AI-enabled workflows to ensure operational reliability

Governance, Responsible AI, and Risk Management

Define and enforce governance standards for AI usage within Power Platform, including environment strategy, DLP policies, connector controls, and access management

Establish prompt governance practices such as versioning, review, safety controls, and lifecycle management

Ensure alignment with Responsible AI principles, regulatory requirements, and organizational risk posture

Security, Privacy, and Compliance by Design

Design solutions using secure engineering principles including identity management (Entra ID/Azure AD), RBAC, least privilege access, and secrets management

Ensure data privacy, retention, and auditability across AI solutions, especially when handling sensitive or regulated data

Partner with security and compliance teams to evaluate and remediate risks throughout the solution lifecycle

Scalability, Performance, and Enterprise ALM

Implement enterprise application lifecycle management using solutions, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and controlled deployments

Optimize AI usage for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency, including concurrency controls and usage monitoring

Support multi-environment strategies (Dev/Test/Prod) and managed solutions for long-term maintainability

Stakeholder Partnership & Technical Leadership

Translate business problems into technical designs and AI-enabled roadmaps with clear success metrics

Provide architectural guidance, technical mentorship, code reviews, and best practices to development and maker communities

Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and industrialize successful solutions for enterprise-wide adoption

Required Technical Skills & Experience

8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or applied AI roles, with 3+ years delivering enterprise solutions on Microsoft Power Platform

Strong hands-on experience with Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model-driven), Power Automate, Dataverse, and Copilot Studio

Deep expertise integrating AI services, including Azure OpenAI/OpenAI APIs, prompt engineering, function calling, and safety controls

Strong understanding of RAG architectures, embeddings, vector search concepts, and AI evaluation techniques

Experience building and securing APIs and integrations using REST, OAuth2, Microsoft Graph, custom connectors, and Azure API Management

Solid data engineering fundamentals, including working with Dataverse, SQL, SharePoint, data lakes, and enterprise data systems

Proven experience with Entra ID/Azure AD, RBAC, data loss prevention policies, and enterprise security controls

Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript

Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and performance tuning

Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering AI solutions in regulated or highly governed industries such as healthcare, insurance, finance, or government

Strong familiarity with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Microsoft Graph, Purview, and information protection

Experience defining and operating Power Platform governance at scale, including Center of Excellence practices

Working knowledge of Responsible AI frameworks, risk assessments, and red-teaming exercises

Relevant Microsoft certifications in Power Platform, Azure, or AI are a plus

Soft Skills & Collaboration Expectations

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong stakeholder partnership skills, balancing innovation with compliance, security, and operational readiness

Hands-on mindset with a focus on delivering production-ready outcomes, not just prototypes

Collaborative leader who mentors peers, supports citizen developers, and raises overall engineering maturity

Pragmatic, business-focused approach with an emphasis on measurable impact and user experience

What Success Looks Like

AI-powered Power Platform solutions delivered to production with measurable business impact

Reusable AI integration patterns adopted across teams

Strong governance and security controls that enable safe, scalable innovation

Reduced operational risk through automation, monitoring, and well-defined standards
